Here’s Everything Revealed at Today’s Google Event

Google’s anticipated 2017 keynote has finally arrived, and with it comes a lot of tech goodies that fans of the brand will be eager to get their hands on. The highly anticipated Pixel 2 and 2XL, which were leaked over a month ago still wowed fans with it’s impressive new camera and thin bezel design. The event was filled with many other surprises including a new Google Clip camera, wireless Pixel Buds, and a new home stereo called Home Max. Google Home Mini

Google is ready to compete with Amazon’s Echo Dot with the reveal of the Home Mini. The new edition to the hardware family is a smaller and more affordable companion to the brand’s popular smart speaker Google Home. The mini takes Google’s voice-controlled Alexa competitor, Google Assistant, and packs it into a smaller, quieter, and cheaper form factor for a low price of $49.

Preorders for the Home Mini start today, and will be released on October 19th. It will be available from major retailers, and in come in Google’s “chalk,” “charcoal,” and “coral” color ways.

 

Google Home Max

If the small physique of the Home Mini isn’t for you, the new Home Max stereo system will be. The new big brother to the Google Home features two 4.5-inch woofers alongside tweeters covered by a fabric speaker grille. It also includes far-field microphones that Google says will be able to hear you when the music is playing. The speaker is also equipped with Smart Sound, that raises or lowers the volume depending on what’s happening in your house. For example, if you are washing dishes, the Man will detect the noice and automatically increases the volume.

The Home Max will retail for $399 and will be released this December.

 

Google Pixelbook

The Chromebook is back and better than before. With a new name, Google Pixelbook, the new laptop is a high-end Chromebook 2-in-1 that looks like a cross between a laptop and tablet. It sports a blocky design, wide trackpad, and 12.3-inch display with a 3:2 screen aspect ratio. Under the hood, it features a 7th generation Intel Core i5 processor, 8GB of RAM, and 128GB of storage. It’s Google’s new premium Chromebook and will be priced at $999. Available October 31.

The Pixelbook also supports Google’s new Pixelbook Pen, which serves as a stylus to the device. It’s sold separately for $99.

New Pixel 2 and 2XL

The most anticipated product from the event is the new Pixel 2 and 2 XL. Like it’s predecessor, Google’s new flagship phones sport arguably the best camera in any phone. According to Google, the camera received a DUO score of 98. The highest score on any smartphone.

Google Clips

A new member to the Google family is Google Clips. The camera uses artificial intelligence to capture intimate moments when you can’t. Clips is trained to capture soundless video of faces and pets that it recognizes. It comes in a two-tone white-and-teal color pairing, with a battery life of three hours of continuous use. It has a 12-megapixel sensor and a 130-degree field-of-view lens, and takes photos at 15 fps. Lastly, it has 8GB of internal memory.

The Google Clips camera will be available for $249.

Wireless Pixel Buds

Google branded earbuds are on the way, and they’re wireless! The new Pixel Buds feature everything you need in wireless headphones, like gesture controls, including swipes or touches to switch songs, answer phone calls, or adjust volume levels. Also, touching the right earbud will activate the built-in Google Assistant, which can be used to get directions, set reminders, or access music and messages. The wireless buds will last five hours on a single charge.

The earbuds come in three colors: black, white, and blue, and cost $159.
